Chemical Heritage Foundation

Philadelphia is rapidly becoming known for its dynamic tech industry and rich arts community. What happens when those two get together? Join us for a series of TED-like presentations highlighting some of the most interesting tech projects happening in the arts.

TechniCulture, hosted by the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance as a part of Philly Tech Week, will be held April 17, 2015, at the Chemical Heritage Foundation. The goals of TechniCulture are to build deeper relationships between the cultural and tech communities, to encourage and inspire cultural organizations to think more innovatively and entrepreneurially and to celebrate our region’s bourgeoning tech resources.

The event’s keynote speaker is Drexel University ExCite Center’s Director, Youngmoo Kim. Philadelphia Geek Award’s 2012 “Scientist of the Year” and a member of Apple Distinguished Educator class of 2013, Youngmoo will discuss how artistic innovation and technological innovation are inextricably linked and how the power of STEAM education can fuel joint innovation.

This inaugural event will showcase examples of outstanding collaborations between tech and cultural institutions of varying sizes. Natalie Nixon, Director, Strategic Design MBA Philadelphia University, will moderate the 5-20 minute presentations from some of the sector’s lead collaborators such as: the Philadelphia Orchestra’s “LiveNote” and Founder + CEO of Bluecadet, Josh Goldblum. Our speakers will focus on great partnerships in two categories – artistic/curatorial and administrative. See a full list of presenters here

Be sure to bring your smartphone, iPad or tablet as the event will have an interactive portion, and we would love for you to join in our online conversation using #TechniCulture.

This event is sponsored by Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.
