About this event

Welcome to the TechArt Webinar - Hybridize Your Festival?

With ambitious plans for the future, the city of Oulu and the north of Finland do not want to go about it alone. We want to learn from current experiences across Europe on how to forge alliances between scientists, entrepreneurs and artists, solve problems and make living and working sustainable for our well-being as well as for our environment. The two-year TechArt City Project aims specifically to contribute to the European ecosystem that has been building in the last years where cities & regions, tech companies, R&D organizations, creative & cultural players and art professionals work together to imagine our future. The objective of the innovative Northern AiRresidency network is to create permanent supporting structures for the residency field. The initiative explores new forms of cultural mobility and cooperation through art and residencies.

For 2022, we are planning a number of events for a series centred on what northern Finland and Oulu have to offer and we want to spark conversations and collaborations among the ecosystem players via our engaging talks and matchmaking sessions.

As the first event in the series, we are happy to invite you to our two-day event in Oulu. Thursday February 10th focuses on residencies and supporting artists – the moniker for the day is Residensize My Art. The afternoon will include presentations of residencies in northern Finland, enlightening keynotes from domestic and international speakers, opportunities to converse, share, and develop ideas – fire up a Northern AiR pilot project perhaps? Save the date, details tba.

During February 11th, we are happy to invite you to Hybridize My Festival, a compact session where we will have one festival organizer and two artists discussing how the shift to hybrid events has changed their work and how they made the most of it.

In the evening we will have a matchmaking event, where our aim is to spark the love between some of our participants!

13:00-14:30 DanceHack Presentation

13.30-14:00 Keynote Nick Barley and Intro to other panelists

14:00-14:10 John Collingswood

14:10-14:20 Stephanie Felber intro on her experience on DanceHack and hybrid performances

14:20-14:40 Panel Discussion with Twitter Wall

We are still finalizing it and the final version will be sent to you a few days before the event and can be found at this page https://www.eventbrite.com/x/168799924117/in English.

Why should you attend? if you are an artist, a festival organiser, a member of an organisation working across technology and art you will hear about how your peers have found a way to keep going in these weird times and you will have the chance to connect to possible new partners for a new event, a new collaboration, maybe digital for now and hybrid in the future. Moreover, you will learn from Olli, the city of Oulu Representative for this project, how Oulu should definitively be on your radar as a destination for your next TechArt project.
