Event description

Description

Austin Tech Alliance's #TechTownHall series – an ongoing effort to connect Austin's tech sector with our community's elected officials – continues with Council Member Alison Alter on October 3. ATA member company data.world is generously hosting the event.

During our conversation with Council Member Alter, who represents District 10 in northwest Austin, we'll discuss how City Council works, her priorities for the city, and how Austin’s tech community can best engage on neighborhood and policy issues.

About Council Member Alter: Council Member Alison Alter is a small business owner, a former professor, a community connector, and an environmental advocate. Her priorities include managing growth responsibly, protecting open and green spaces, addressing transportation challenges, promoting transparent and effective government, investing in our children, and fostering civic engagement.

Council Member Alter has more than 20 years of experience working in nonprofits, higher education, and through public-private partnerships. She earned her Ph.D. in Political Economy and Government at Harvard University and her B.A. in Public Policy from Stanford University. Council Member Alter lives in Rosedale with her husband, UT Professor Jeremi Suri, and her two children.

Getting to data.world's office: easiest way to navigate to the event is by typing "data.world" into Google Maps. Their building is located just south of Chinatown and Anderson Lane on the southbound Mopac Access Road, just north of Far West. Visitor parking is available inside the first floor of the parking garage, along with the outside parking lot facing Far West Blvd.
