Event description

Description

Are you feeling overwhelmed by the college process? Do you need help navigating through it? Have you been waiting for like a million years for another Young Hackers event?

Well, on December 8 and 29, The Young Hackers and Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center will be hosting Admissions Assistance! Admissions Assistance is a series of workshops intended to help guide students like you through the college process and give some pointers. 12th and 11th graders are recommended to attend; merch will be provided by Gooroo, an EdTech company, and the University of Rochester!

The workshops will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 pm on each day in the gym. Be sure to RSVP beforehand and bring a Photo ID upon checking in. Otherwise, you will not be allowed to enter the building.

Here’s what to expect during each day:

On December 8, you’ll be treated to a presentation on the college process by Chayma Boussayoud, Co-Founder of SAAW, Students Association for the Advancement of Women, and recent graduate of Yale University. The presentation will provide a general overview of the admissions process, what to expect from it, common problems and how to overcome them.

On December 29, you’ll be treated to an Application Essay session and an Admissions Interview/Resume Prep session. The Essay session will be led by Chayma, and the Resume/Interview Session will be led by a representative of Gooroo.
