Under the GUI specializes in Coding for Kids and we’re excited to offer the experience year-round. Welcome to Summer Tech Camps 2017! Our instructors are industry professionals and love working with kids! Register today to tinker & learn about technology with real world experiences.

Last year, we hosted a SOLD-OUT youth hackathon - The Ultimate Canadian Youth Game Jam - and it was phenomenal! This summer, we’re bringing back the same excitement with a wider range of tech topics:

No experience necessary! Join as a learner or come with previous skills and we’ll find a course that fits you!

Coding & Animation

July 10th – 14th or July 31st – August 4th, 2017

  • Students in this course will be working with Python to understand computer algorithms and computer programming basics. This is an introduction to computer programming concepts, designs, and implementations through learning how to create games by scripting themselves! At the end of this camp, students will have created their own versions of their favorite games that they can share with their friends and family. Additionally, they will have built the foundations to understand computer programming principles and logic.

Robotics, Circuits & 3D Printing
July 17th – 21st or August 7th – 11th, 2017

  • In the Robotics, Circuits and 3D Printing camp, students will learn the basics of Arduino programming and making electronic circuit prototypes. From blinking LEDs to complex flying robots, the maker culture is shaping up to be the second industrial revolution! This camp will teach students how to connect components on a breadboard and do basic Arduino programming to control them. The course is designed to introduce concepts step-by-step with the culmination in a project such as a robot that makes drawings or a machine for automatically watering plants! In the 3D Printing portion, students will learn how to design, create and print their own products by the end of this camp!

Mechatronics & Engineering Olympics
July 24th – 28th or August 14th – 18th, 2017

  • The Mechatronics & Engineering Olympics will introduce students of all ages to the exciting world of Engineering through a full week of competitions and engaging activities. Activities and challenges will include Paper Physics Triathlon, High Egg Drop, Popsicle Stick Bridge/Tower, Robotic Transporter, and many more! Groups will receive a budget each to invest in their own materials and projects! Maybe, they’ll learn some accounting and budgeting skills too! It’.s all about the team-work!
