Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

Join us at University of Glasgow's Tech Start for the next in our series of meet-ups for aspiring technology entrepreneurs. Our meet-ups bring you a range of inspiring speakers - from undergrad students who are just starting out with their first app venture, all the way to experienced CEOs who have built successful businesses. The message is simple: creating your own start-up is hard work, heaps of fun, and an unparalleled learning experience. All delivered with free pizza and refreshments, plus lots of opportunities to network with other prospective entrepreneurs.

This month our speakers are:

HUW EVANS

One of the challenges of getting a technology launched is first of all figuring out what needs to be built, and then understanding how you are going to build it. There are hundreds of tools and frameworks that you could use. But before you reach for your favourite technology stack, take a step back, and start with "why". Why are you building it and what is your goal for the first version of your software? Who is going to use your product and will they pay for it? This talk will consider how the answers to these questions can help you choose the most appropriate technology and get something to market quickly and easily.

Huw Evans has run his own technical training company on Jamaica while working at the University of the West Indies, and is currently collaborating with a Glasgow start-up. During the day he works with large UK companies to solve their problems, usually using code - but not always. He specialises in shipping software. If you have an idea, and no where else to turn, ask Huw, he knows how to get it done.

ANDREAS POYIATZIS

Andreas was born in Cyprus and he is currently a 4th year Software Engineering student at the University of Glasgow. Andreas' passion for technology drove him into learning and practicing programming at a very early age and therefore pursue a Software Engineering career. This has been a lifelong dream for him and now he is trying to create his dream job and at the same time fight cancer with his award winning startup called DermaTrack. Also co-founder of the newly formed UoG Fintech Society, he keeps exploring ways to make an impact by following his enthusiasm and passions.
