Description

Under the GUI specializes in Coding for Kids and we’re excited to offer the experience year-round. Welcome to Summer Tech Camps 2017! Our instructors are industry professionals and love working with kids! Register today to tinker & learn about technology with real world experiences.

In the Robotics, Circuits and 3D Printing camp, students will learn the basics of Arduino programming and making electronic circuit prototypes. From blinking LEDs to complex flying robots, the maker culture is shaping up to be the second industrial revolution! This camp will teach students how to connect components on a breadboard and do basic Arduino programming to control them. The course is designed to introduce concepts step-by-step with the culmination in a project such as a robot that makes drawings or a machine for automatically watering plants! In the 3D Printing portion, students will learn how to design, create and print their own products by the end of this camp!

Camp Details:

  • Ages 6 – 14 (separated into age groups)
  • Maximum 10 campers per age group; maximum 30 campers per camp
  • Small camper-to-instructor ratio
  • Take-home Arduino Kit (worth $80)
  • Hands-on experience in Robotics, Circuitry & 3D Printing
  • Individual laptops provided
  • Take-home Robotic & 3D printed project
  • T-shirts & Camp Certificates

What Campers will Learn:

  • How to create a simple LED circuit to LED flashes at various intervals
  • The anatomy of an Arduino sketch, software and breadboard
  • Setup() functions and a loop() functions
  • How to “code” the Arduino
  • Mechanics and circuitry of robotics
  • Fun and challenging way to control Robotics!
  • Safely use a 3D printer and how to print “in the air”

The Benefits of learning Arduino:

Cross-platform – runs on Windows, Apple, and Linux
Easy-to-use – the programming environment is easy-to-use for beginners, yet flexible enough for advanced users
Open source software – the software is published as open source tools and available for extension by advanced users/ programmers
Fast prototyping – amazingly powerful and fast – able to hook up LED lights in a matter of minutes and control their behaviour
Large community – professionals worldwide have been making projects through Arduino and readily available online
