Tech and the City
Event Information
Description
Online registration has ended. A limited number of walk-in tickets ($30 each) will be available at the door.
The start-up and tech scene in New York is growing each year by leaps and bounds, and Columbia is well-positioned to offer some of the best talent in the game. All Columbia alumni in the city are invited to 10 On the Park in the Time Warner Center to learn about the future of Silicon Alley and why it's giving Silicon Valley a run for its money.
Dean Mary C. Boyce of Columbia Engineering will moderate a discussion with Alessandro Piol BS'79, MS'82, co-founder of Vedanta Capital, Jon Oringer MS'99, founder and CEO of Shutterstock, and Fred Wilson, principal at Union Square Ventures. The panelists will touch on the history of technology start-ups in NYC as discussed in Mr. Piol's recent book, Tech and the City, and will offer perspective on critical opportunities and roadblocks facing innovators and start-ups settling in New York City going forward.
Following the program, alumni will have the chance to meet and network in an open reception featuring a series of new ventures founded by Columbia students, alumni, and faculty. Bring your business cards and get ready to network!
