 Many of us help our clients to lead better teams. In this workshop, we'll spend some time making sure we're clear on the process they (and we) need to use. We will examine the underlying principles, and the practical tools that the Strategy Matters team uses in two real-world situations: our work with our clients, and our work leading a team of consultants and contractors coming together on a complex year-long planning project. We will share our methods for selecting tools and processes, and share some insights from successes and failures.


Program fee: Members  $30;  Non-members $45

Presenter Bios

Liz O’Connor is the founder and principal of Strategy Matters, a consulting firm founded in 2000 that supports organizations tackling complex societal challenges.  She creates customized processes to help businesses, nonprofits, government agencies, collaboratives and public private partnerships address their most pressing challenges and identify high-impact solutions.  Liz appreciates the opportunities embedded in conflict, and helps clients turn friction and difficulty into pathways to stronger teams.  Prior to founding Strategy Matters, Liz was the Deputy Director of the Office of Strategic Planning at the Boston Police Department.  Liz holds a MA in Philosophy from the University of Washington and a BA in Philosophy and Political Science from Mount Holyoke College.


Josh Moulton is a senior strategy consultant at Strategy Matters where he works with government agencies, nonprofits, and businesses to develop creative approaches to complex organizational and societal challenges. Josh’s work is predicated on the notion that people, and the organizations they comprise, are capable of achieving extraordinary things, given a rigorous assessment of the principles that motivate them and the environments in which they operate, and clarity concerning their goals. He is trained in a variety of facilitation and mediation techniques, including Technologies of Participation, and Essential Partners. 


Brittney Nichols Barrows:  Prior to joining our team, Brittney worked with startups and small businesses to engage diverse communities, broker partnerships, and manage customer experience. She also served as a project manager at EdVestors, a school change philanthropy where she worked collaboratively with teachers, artists, and administrators. At Strategy Matters, Brittney manages timelines and budgets on all projects while maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Strategy Matters team. Brittney is a Board member for the Cambridge Material Aid & Advocacy program and has a BA in Business Management and English Communications from Emmanuel College.
