Description

Come learn about how you can become a TEALS volunteer and change a life! Listen to Tucson Mayor, Jonathan Rothschild, and Caitlin Derr, TEALS Regional Manager, speak about this volunteer opportunity and the impact TEALS has made in Tucson.

If you’re looking for a way to harness your computer science (CS) skills and make an impact in your community, we invite you to become a Technology Education and Literacy in Schools (TEALS) volunteer.

Computer science is a vital driver in today’s global innovation economy, but most U.S. high schools are unable to offer rigorous CS courses. Without CS in high schools, our students are missing out on essential computational skills that will help them succeed in any career they wish to pursue, and professional skills that could lead to an economically secure future. The TEALS program seeks to change that reality.

Our volunteers work directly with classroom teachers to help them build and grow their CS teaching capacity through yearlong support and training to inspire the next generation of computer scientists.

With the assistance of the University of Arizona STEM Learning Center, the Tucson Mayor's Office, and local companies, TEALS has been assisting Tucson schools since 2015. TEALS has been growing in Tucson, starting with 1 school in 2015, to 3 in 2016, to 9 in 2017. With our great local partnerships, TEALS is doubling support in Tucson to 18 schools for the 2018-19 school year.

Here is a list of our 2018-19 partners:
