Teal Exchange #2 Reimagining Work
Fri, July 14, 2017, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM BST
The term Teal to describe the corporation as a living organism was proposed by Frederic Laloux in his book, Reinventing Organizations. The color teal, along with its living organism metaphor is seen as the next phase of organisational evolution. Laloux's model can be seen here.
Following on from the first Teal Exchange, this event is intended to open up your imagination to possibilities of creating new kinds of work environments. Favoring the term reimagining over reinventing is a purposeful shift designed to help us let go of logical, mechanical thinking and embrace the unknown, the organic, the unpredictable.
As discovered in the previous Teal Exchange, we have no obvious language for describing a new work paradigm, and tend to default to exisiting language, learned in our current work climate, where hierarchies still hold strong, frameworks and models are rigorously taught, and sought, strong leadership is required, and admired, rewards are commonplace, internal competition is rife, and knowing the answer reigns supreme.
The Teal Exchange is a forum to explore the unknown. We believe that the models and inspiration we seek lie not in the business space, where sometimes we cannot see the wood for the trees, but on the periphery, perhaps in unexpected disciplines and concepts, places we explore less often. The Teal Exchange invites business leaders, workers and consultants into dialog with, for example, artists, poets, theologists, biologists, musicians, psychotherapists, life coaches and organisational change agents to explore the promise of Teal.
The event will feature workshops and talks on emergent purpose, wholeness and self-organisation. Watch this space for more information on the facilitators and presenters—and read this review of the first Teal Exchange.
Who should attend?
We encourage participation by business leaders, executive managers and organisational change consultants, but we especially welcome those from the grass roots of organisations, people taking responsibility for their own work lives, and seeking deeper engagement. Bring an open mind and ideas or experiences to share with others.
The event will be held at The Foundry in Vauxhall, south London. The ticket price of £150 will cover venue, catering and other organisational costs. Discounts are offered to those who attended the first Teal Exchnage, and those experiencing finacial hardship. Contact the organiser for details. Tickets are non-refundable but can be transferred to friends or colleagues. Coffee, tea and water will be provided throughout the day, but lunch is not included. The location has a few pubs, retaurants and cafes close by.
