Event description

Description

How well do you utilise the exchanges between yourself and your students? How much do you think about the quality of talk that goes on between students in your classes? Interaction between the members of the ESOL classroom is fundamental to language education, so it is well worth taking a step back and thinking about how, why and when different types of interaction take place. This session will look at different types of teacher and student talk, and suggest some ways of increasing the quality and quantity of useful talk in ESOL classes. We will do some observation of teachers in action and think about how their language use can both enhance and restrict their students’ learning.
