FAQ:
*Can I take one part of the training and not the other?
Yes! Parts 1 and 2 may also be enrolled in separately and taken as stand-alone workshops, or they may be taken together. There is a $100 discount for registering for both trainings at the same time.
*How are the parts different?
Each part of the training is uniquely tailored to the age group discussed. The development, anatomy, physiology, and classroom management techniques to keep in mind while teaching these ages are quite distinct. The specific breathing exercises, postures, games, and relaxation exercises recommended also vary between trainings, and the manuals you will receive also reflect this. Maggie has taught yoga to both age groups and will address the differences during the training.
*Can I become an Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher (RCYT) at the end of this training?
Yes! If you are already an RYT-200, by participating in both parts of the training in their entirety you will be eligible for Yoga Alliance’s 95-hour RCYT certification (with additional teaching hours on your own).
*Do I have to be a yoga teacher to participate?
No! Parents, educators, social workers, counselors, psychologists, and anyone else who regularly interacts with kids or teenagers will get a ton out of these trainings. You cannot become a RCYT with Yoga Alliance without previous yoga training, but you will be certified as a Yoga Ed. educator by completing either portion of the training.
Note: discounts are available for classroom educators. Please email Maggie (maggie.mcdowell@yogaed.com) for details.
*What materials will I need?
To keep the world green for our children, we deliver our course materials digitally. You will receive instructions for downloading your digital copy of our course introduction packet and 350-page curriculum (for each part) upon registration for this program.
There is also a recommended reading list for both the Children and Teens trainings. These books can be purchased on your own or borrowed from your friendly local library.
You will be provided with a list of what to bring on each training day.
