Event description

Description

How is public policy shaped in the U.S.? What is the U.S. Government and how do the 50 states interact with it? What is the role of civil society in governance in the United States? What's the significance of midterm elections? How do they impact the President's agenda? What about the U.S. Supreme Court?

Approaching these subjects with students can be daunting today, even for experienced civics teachers.

Join us at the U.S. Embassy in London for a special engagement with visiting expert Akram Elias. Akram is an international consultant with decades of experience specializing in international business and cultural/political networking. Over the past 25 years, Akram has prepared visiting international dignitaries and international visitors to the United States with cultural orientation seminars and workshops about American politics, government and civil society.

In this seminar, Akram will share tools and techniques that can help frame the complex political and societal landscape of the United States in a more approachable way.

Please note, due to the Embassy security screening requirements, late arrivals unfortunately cannot be accommodated. All guests must be registered by name prior to the event, and must bring a photo-ID matching the name they registered with. Please expect airport style security screening. Large electronics such as iPads and laptops should be left at home when possible.
