Teaching 101: Fundamentals of Instruction is designed to influence career success in academics and enhance teaching effectiveness. At the end of the program, participants will be able to:

The program focuses, primarily, on oral health professionals who are new to academia and/or those who are considering the transition to dental education but have (1) minimal to no experience or formal training in pedagogy or (2) a desire to enhance their teaching skills.
The capstone activity provides an opportunity for participants to design a “micro-teaching” presentation. Presentations will receive verbal and written feedback from course instructors and peers in addition to a reflective self-evaluation of the teaching experience. The success of this project relies on the active cooperation and collaboration of all participants who, as a team, work together to support each other in enhancing their teaching effectiveness.
Instruction will be provided in three 3-hour sessions from 9 am until noon on the following dates:

Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry’s multi-faceted approach to faculty development includes programs and activities that promote growth and development of faculty in the areas of teaching, research and service.
Oversight of faculty development is managed collaboratively by the Director of Faculty Development and the Faculty Development Committee (FDC) through the Office of Academic Affairs.
Actions of the FDC to augment the College’s efforts to enhance faculty development are directed by charges from the Dean through the Committee on Committees.
