Project Cornerstone is offering a workshop for middle school and elementary teachers on the science and economics of the natural resources used in producing concrete. This workshop will provide rock solid tools and hands-on activities to implement in the classroom that will keep students engaged and excited about learning science, technology, engineering, math (STEM), history and economics.
The workshop will:
- Illustrate how concrete has been used by civilizations, like the ancient Romans,
- Introduce an innovative trade activity,
- Present hands-on activities that will feature:
- testing a hypothesis
- applying ratio concepts
- creating customized concrete projects.
The workshop is ideal for history, science and math teachers to collaborate and offer a fun and exciting learning opportunity for students. Information and activities provided are easily applied in the classroom. They provide a fun and interactive way to apply economic principals, Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and STEM into classroom learning.
