Teacher Certification Information Session-Chicago Campus
Wednesday, November 7, 2012 from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM (CST)
The Teacher Certification Programs Information Session will provide you the opportunity to meet with faculty, learn about new scholarship opportunities, and gain more information on the many teacher certification programs Roosevelt offers. The College of Education is NCATE accredited and focused on preparing teachers for the real world challenges of teaching and learning in diverse schools and communities.
Roosevelt offers early childhood, secondary, elementary, and special education teacher certification. Each of these programs allows students to take courses in the evening on a part or full time basis. Special Education also offers courses on Saturdays in Schaumburg.
In Elementary and Secondary Education, certification may be earned in just four semesters. Certified teachers may earn an approval in Special Education in as little as 1-3 semesters. Secondary certification is offered to students with majors or concentrations in business, biology, chemistry, math, English, and history. The requirements for the early childhood special education approval are integrated into the early childhood program.
Full-time students in the elementary education program may earn free student teaching if they maintain an excellent GPA in their courses. Opportunities to earn endorsements in middle school and bilingual/ESL teaching also will available for most students.
