Description

Join us,

Monday, September 25th (Light lunch 12:00. Keynote 12:15) Tea Time Speaker Series presents Gender Identity: Understanding identity and sexuality. Location: Mount Wachusett Community College Gardner, MA (main campus) Multipurpose room. Time: 12:00-2:00pm

Your sexual orientation and gender identity is an important part of who you are. In 2017, understanding identity and sexuality can be challenging. For some, gender can be fluid and many believe that the biological parent should refrain from reinforcing traits associated with the child's gender at birth, instead by allowing the child to develop into the gender they are comfortable with.

The language around gender and sexuality continues to evolve rapidly. Learning more about gender, gender identity, and sexual orientation can help you understand yourself and the world around you. The language that is associated gender and sexuality continues to evolve rapidly. Therefore, learning which words or phrases are most accurate, respectful, and useful is an important goal for classroom and workplace interactions.

In this training, you will learn key terms and concepts for understanding gender diversity, sexual orientation, and for communicating with your students and colleagues.

(This event will include free light lunch.)

The Tea Time Speaker Series is a recipient of the 2016 MWCC Foundation Innovation Grant and will be sponsored by: Gateway to College, Mount Wachusett Community College’s Leading for Change Diversity Consortium, the Division of Human Resources and Payroll/Affirmative Action Office, and SAGA (Sexual And Gender Alliance) student club at MWCC.
