TCRG Brown Bag Speaker Series:

Topic: Are Twin Cities residents healthy? Results from the Metro SHAPE survey.
Dave Johnson, Urban Landreman, and Mei Ding will discuss the methodology and findings of the Survey of the Health of All the Population and the Environment (Metro SHAPE). Metro SHAPE 2014 is a regional, coordinated public health surveillance effort in the Twin Cities metro region of Minnesota. Metro SHAPE gathers data on health and factors that affect health for adults of participating jurisdictions, including six metro area counties (Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, and Washington).
This presentation will cover the methodology of the project and present results for Hennepin County that highlight how the survey can be used to examine health equity issues in the region. The presentation will also cover strategies used to reach hard-to-reach populations, intended to lead participants into a discussion about promising approaches to improve participation and address non-response bias in future survey efforts.
Featured Presenters: Dave Johnson is a public health program manager; Urban Landreman is a public health data analyst; Mei Ding is a planning analyst; all with Hennepin County.
