Event description

Description

The Colored Girls Museum takes community matters into her own hands converting exhibition spaces in her three story Victorian memoir museum into a Social Care Experience. New exhibits address the multiple needs of black and brown women and girls for Urgent Care now. Curators, artist and ordinaries present new works which construct Colored Girlhood as an imaginative and powerful space, exploring a range of themes from hairstories, to friendship, colorism to displacement. Urgent Care is A Public Art Performance ----which cast the colored girl simultaneously as first responder and patient.

“Urgent Care , A Social Care Experience” The exhibition features an intergenerational group of artists who explore the concept of Urgent Care moving beyond the "medical” to consider how a variety of issues and circumstances overlap producing the need for Urgent Care Now! Occupying four exhibition spaces in The Colored Girls Museum, this exhibit premieres in the 2017 Philadelphia Fringe Arts Festival and will be on view from September 8th, 2017. Urgent Care will feature artists working across a variety of mediums and genres, including , video, performance, painting, sculpture, photography, and craft.
