Event description
Join IntertwinedFamily for a day of learning about how we can better serve children who have experienced trauma.

About this Event

IntertwinedFamily invites you to attend an interactive training that offers an overview of concepts from the TBRI (Trust Based Relational Intervention) model created by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross at the TCU Institute of Child Development.

Attendees will learn:

  • How trauma impacts brain development and triggers “survival mode” in your child
  • Practical tools for building a safe, trusting relationship with your child
  • Methods for teaching your child’s brain new skills such as self-regulation and social competence
  • Helpful interventions for preventing and managing behavioral episodes
  • The importance of adult attachment style when working with children of trauma

Lunch and class materials provided with purchase of ticket including a copy of The Connected Child by Karyn B. Purvis, David R. Cross.

This class is presented in cooperation with Children's Home Society of Virginia. CHS is a full-service, private, 501(c)(3) non-profit permanency-driven organization. Founded in 1900, they are one of Virginia’s oldest and most experienced adoption agencies. Their mission is to build strong, permanent families and lifelong relationships for Virginia’s at-risk children.
