Fit for the future: Embracing emerging opportunities in scholarly communication

The Taylor & Francis Scholarly Summit is a free-to-attend event, exclusively available to journal editorial team members and society partners. The Summit offers the opportunity to discuss key issues facing journal editors and learned societies, and network with industry leaders & innovators, fellow editors, learned society representatives and Taylor & Francis colleagues.

This year’s Melbourne Summit will include presentations on publication ethics, open data, and other important themes for academic journal publishing today and into the future.

Brief Agenda

Introductions
The morning will begin with a welcome address from Sarah Blatchford, Regional Director Journals, Taylor & Francis Australia and a presentation from Deborah Kahn, Publishing Director, Taylor & Francis.

Session 1: Open Data
This session includes a discussion of current issues and debates around Open Data, information on data sharing policies at Taylor & Francis, and a presentation from the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC).

Presenters: Natalie Davall, Publisher STM, Taylor & Francis Australia; Keith Russell, Manager Engagements, ARDC.

Session 2: Publication Ethics
This session includes an introduction to publication ethics, the role of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and a discussion of some specific cases and resolutions we have come across at T&F in the past few years.

Presenters: Deborah Kahn, Publishing Director, Taylor & Francis and member of the COPE council; Sarah Robbie, Head of Peer Review Policy & Research, Taylor & Francis.

Session 3: Taylor & Francis Lightning Sessions
In this session we will hear short presentations on key topics such as diversity in academic publishing and open the floor for questions.
