A discussion with investors on the proposed GRI Tax & Payments to Governments reporting standard

This 90-minutes session is an opportunity to understand the scope and content of the draft standard and to provide feeback on whether it will deliver valuable information for investors.

Background

Corporate taxation is a financially material topic that impacts company earnings and provides insight into an organization's governance. Due to increasing regulatory activity and stakeholder pressures, investors increasingly recognize that multinational corporations face substantial risk in this area; however, investment analysis of taxation has been restrained by very limited corporate disclosure on the topic.

The GRI Standards are the first and most widely adopted standards for Sustainability Reporting. In 2017, the Global Sustainability Standards Board, GRI’s independent standard-setting body, convened a multi-stakeholder expert committee to discuss and propose a reporting standard for Tax and Payments to Governments for potential inclusion in the GRI Standards. In December, the draft standard was released for public comment.

Detailed information on the draft standard on Tax and Payments to Governments and the Public Comment Period is available here.

Please join us on Thursday 7th February for an investor-focused discussion.

The session will be held simultaneously at MFS’s UK (London) and US (Boston) offices. You are registering for the Boston session. Light refreshments will be provided.
