Recent schedule updates/notes:
- WALK-INs are not accepted at this site. We are an appointment-only site for Foreign Students due to limited volunteer staffing with the Foreign Student volunteer certification.
- You can also visit another free tax site within the United Way Bay Area coalition that helps Foreign Students by appointment (Sacred Heart Community Service) or by walk-in (Campbell Library, DeAnza Community College, Star One Credit Union on Blossom Hill, Star One Credit Union in Palo Alto). You can view their schedule on the UWBA site listing.
All international students must complete and submit tax forms to the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) if you lived in the U.S. for any part of the tax year (even if you did not work). Besides being a legal requirement, it is often to your advantage to file a tax return. Some of your tax withholdings may be refunded.
STEP #1: SCREENING TOOL - Please use United Way Bay Area's online screening tool to determine if you’re eligible for free tax help through our program.
STEP #2: MAKE AN APPOINTMENT ONLINE - If the tool results in you likely being eligible, go ahead and register here through EventBrite to make an appointment with us!
STEP #3: GATHER YOUR DOCS AND COMPLETE THE FORM 13614NR - http://www.earnitkeepitsaveit.org/foreign-student details the documents you will need for your appointment AND the form to fill out (as much as you can) prior to your appointment.
STEP #4. GO TO SANTA CLARA CITY LIBRARY ON YOUR APPOINTMENT DAY! Santa Clara City Library (SCCL) is located at 2635 Homestead Road, Santa Clara, CA 95051. When you enter the front doors, you can make your way to the Edinger or Redwood rooms where the library puts us OR ask the front desk where they have placed us that day.
Santa Clara City Library (Central Park Branch) is one of hundreds of Bay Area VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) sites that provide free tax help to low-to-moderate income families. We are part of the greater tax movement called Earn It! Keep It! Save It! (EKS), organized by United Way Bay Area (UWBA). You can read more about EKS at http://www.EarnitKeepitSaveit.org/about
Thanks, and see you soon!
