Description

=====

All international students must complete and submit tax forms to the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) if you lived in the U.S. for any part of the tax year (even if you did not work). Besides being a legal requirement, it is often to your advantage to file a tax return. Some of your tax withholdings may be refunded.

STEP #1: SCREENING TOOL - Please use United Way Bay Area's online screening tool to determine if you’re eligible for free tax help through our program.

STEP #2: MAKE AN APPOINTMENT ONLINE - If the tool results in you likely being eligible, go ahead and register here through EventBrite to make an appointment with us!

STEP #3: GATHER YOUR DOCUMENTS AND COMPLETE THE FORM 13614NR - http://www.earnitkeepitsaveit.org/foreign-student details the documents you will need for your appointment AND the form to fill out (NOTE: Foreign Residence Address is unnecessary) prior to your appointment.

STEP #4. GO TO SACRED HEART ON YOUR APPOINTMENT DAY! Sacred Heart Community Service (SHCS) is located on the corner of South First Street and Alma in San Jose. Be sure to enter the set of glass double doors in the back to find the Lotus Computer Lab (where we will be assisting taxpayers).

Sacred Heart Community Service (1381 South First Street, San Jose, CA 95110) is one of hundreds of Bay Area VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) sites that provide free tax help to low-to-moderate income families. We are part of the greater tax movement called Earn It! Keep It! Save It! (EKS), organized by United Way Bay Area (UWBA). You can read more about EKS at http://www.EarnitKeepitSaveit.org/about

Thanks, and see you soon!
