Event description

Description

Join us for The Chadds Ford Historical Society’s Tavern Nights: a Friday evening gathering (not a lecture!) exclusively for adults that focuses on unexplored aspects of early American history and culture. On Friday, March 22, 2019 from 7-9 p.m we present “Liberty & Libations,” the unexplored history of home brewing in the Colonial era in a Colonial tavern.

Guests will have the opportunity to watch beer historian Rich Wagner create a "sixthel" and demonstrate aspects of Colonial brewing with his "barrel of fun," play some Colonial drinking (libation) games, all while learning about women brewsters with beer historian John Medkeff in the spirit of Women's History Month, imbibe local brewery beer samples, and more!

Guests will experience history with hands-on activities, food and drink tastings, demonstrations, and more. Tavern Nights takes place at the Chadds Ford Historical Society’s Barns Brinton House, an historic 1714 tavern, located next to the Chaddsford Winery at 630 Baltimore Pike. Admission is $20 for non-members and $15 for members. Tickets must be purchased in advance over the phone, in person or online as space is limited. All attendees must be 21 and older.

Be sure to mark your calendars for other Tavern Nights including:
February 15 – Colonial Courtship & Victorian Valentines
October 4 – Very Superstitious
November 1 – The Art of the Book
