Celebrate the opening of the 2022 festival submission season of the Black Femme Supremacy Film Fest with our annual short film screening event “Taste Test”. This year’s festival theme is “Nourishment” and we’re interested in knowing about the black femme recipe for rebirth.
This FREE outdoor screening event will feature a panel discussion on the current state of black health amidst a global pandemic, an interactive public memorial to help us process grief and a health marketplace featuring herbs and fresh food. Vaccines and testing will also be available on site. The Peale will be collecting COVID stories as well.
Schedule
4:00 - 4:30 - Libations
4:30 - 5:30 - Panel Discussion - “Black Folks Healing?”
This panel discussion moderated by journalist Lisa Snowden will feature End of Life Doula, Aisha Snead, Public Health PHD Dr. David Fakunle, and filmmakers Nile Williams and Jade Foster Flower. Our intention with this conversation is to create a space where black people can talk about the level of justified mistrust we have for our healthcare system, our experiences with epidemics (Crack/AIDS/Covid) and why COVID in particular is so polarizing in our community.
