Partnership with Children

In the effort to reform public education—arguably our country’s most critical challenge—Partnership with Children is truly making a difference.  We work with our city’s highest-need public schools to provide critical social and emotional supports for the hardest to reach students and to systematically build schools that are safer and more conducive to learning. In short, we make schools better places to learn, and enable students to succeed.

Partnership with Children brings Master’s level social workers into the most underserved public schools to provide individual and small group counseling, in additional to full classroom interventions, for students at the highest risk of academic failure and dropout. Through our holistic approach that also includes teachers, administrators, and parents, we work to implement a framework of sustainable practices that creates a circle of support around each student.

By addressing the social and emotional challenges that undermine achievement, our services lead to increased attendance, improved academic outcomes, better student behavior, improved school climate, and more effective teaching. By ensuring success in the city’s lowest-performing schools, we are helping to break the cycle of disadvantage for our hardest-to-reach students. Today, we are proudly serving over 17,000 students in 44 schools in all five boroughs of New York City.
