Taste of Black STL

Taste of Black STL is a multi-sensory food experience based in St. Louis, MO. For the third year The Taste of Black STL highlights the quality, diversity, and the economic impact of food and beverages primarily sourced from black owned businesses in the state of Missouri. Taste of Black STL brings awareness to our city’s black culinary talent and shines a bright light on black owned businesses. The festival expands to a three day event September10th-12th, festival hours are from noon- 9pm and hosts over 60 vendors from the St. Louis Metropolitan area at The City Foundry STL our host for the weekend is Mocha Latte. While festival tickets are free VIP Experiences are not. With the growth of this event over the past years, we are expecting 20,000attendees through the weekend.

Thursday, September 9

TOBSTL kicks off with Connect and Sip networking mixer hosted at the new Convene Event Space featuring special guests, Koran Bolden and DJ Shay Money. Attendees will connect with leaders inside the culinary industry. VIP ticket holder will experience private seating and heavy appetizers.

Friday, September 10th

There’s lots of action taking place on the Better Family Life Soundstage. We open up with Dj Boogie setting the vibe leading up to culinary demos sponsored by Sysco featuring Chef Ronda Broderick of Posh Plates at 1pm and Chef CJ Williams of Edible Art at 3pm.

DJ Cuddy sets the vibe until 7pm when The Voice’s, Tish Haynes Keys, will be sway attendees with her sultry melodic tones on the Better Family Life sound stage at 7pm

Saturday, September 11th

Sysco Presents a 3 part Chef’s Battle between 4 local chefs that will face off on Saturday the semi finalist will battle it out on Sunday. Special performances by Local band Remedy and Hip hop artist Champ J. Our House DJ’s for the weekend entertains the crowd.

Sunday , September 12

Taste of Black STL is a family event that is wrapped in the love and support from the community. Local restaurants and businesses like GOSSUP PASTA will sponsor all of the catering for the event and A&C Wine Spirits is the official bar sponsor for the entire weekend. While volunteers are coming in through KIPP High School, US Bank and Better Family Life. The Taste of Black STL concludes its final day of amazing food, shopping and entertainment with the Chef showdown taking place on the Better Family Life Soundstage. Followed up by a special performance by the Union House Band and more.

The Taste of Black STL Supports child education and Entrepreneurship and have included a Kids Corner, sponsored by Bounce City STL, that will feature Youth Entrepreneurs Marketplace and an array of activities for kids of all ages to enjoy. The health and wellness center courtesy of Community Awareness Project. Sanitation stations will be throughout the event. COVID-19vaccinations will be available courtesy of BJC and Dr. Echols, Acting Dir. of city of. St. Louis Health Department masks are mandated on the interior of the building.

“I wanted to create something for our culture that celebrated the history of African American chefs. Our roots are embedded in the soul of this country from farming to preparing meals of slave owners, this country was built on the nourishment the ancestors provided. From mouthwatering recipes, tinctures, natural medicines and healing salves, and recipes that have been passed down generations. We are a very long way from where we were but, there is so much further we can go".. said Aisha James, Founder of the TOBSTL.
