"Taste A D-Yawd" A Cultural Exchange Dance Concert... 

Join us for a two day exchange of International & Regional Dance Explosion...This family event will feature the popular Portmore Dance Theatre Company of Kingston Jamaica and Philadelphia's own Ujima Dance Theatre and Kathanghah Dance Company. Expereince storytelling through Afircan Caribbean folk tradition, modern dance and cultural themes.

PERFORMANCES BY:

Portmore Dance Theatre Company is an African Caribbean Dance Company from Kingston Jamaica. Their Company's style is a blend of Traditional Caribbean, African, modern and contemporary dance styles, under the direction of Anthony Carson.

Ujima Dance Theatre's creates thought provoking work about culture and history, human rights and social change. The group was formed in September 2016. The Artistic Director Shana El has over 30 yrs. experience teaching,choreographing and performing. Her formal training includes Philadanco Training Company, Creative and Performing arts High School and University of the Arts in Philadelphia.

Kathanghah Dance Company (KDC) is a Caribbean American modern contemporary Dance company based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Kathanghah was established June 2011, and currently has a total of 13 members that’s seeks the educational sources and knowledge to shine as an artist in the dance industry. The company is located at the 1831 Dance Studio, at the moment we are in search of a permanent place of residence from which to work. KDC aiming to become a nationally acclaimed dance company and uses dance as a medium to foster spiritual and personal communication’s that transport movement through dancers that reach and touches a main stream of people that shows their appreciation for the art of dance across the diaspora. The company was founded by Artistic Director Chevaughn Louis Anthony Graham.
