See one of Molière's most deviously hilarious and biting political comedies under the stars at the LeFrak Center in Prospect Park. Comedian Kate Rigg as Tartuffe and Tony nominee Andy Grotelueschen as Orgon lead a cast of New York theater’s finest in this non-traditional lark in the park.
Rain Policy: Don’t let the rain keep you away! We will move Tartuffe under cover at LeFrak Center if required. It’s the unexpected that brings magic to live theater after all!
About the Play
A bible-thumping shark
Makes a deal with a gullible mark.
Mix in money and power,
fleshly sins by the hour
And call it Molière in the Park!
If ever a play, written back in the day, knew exactly with what we’d be dealing, it’s Tartuffe by Molière. 17th century fare, but the story is truly… revealing.
The New York Times called Molière in the Park's 2020 Virtual Tartuffe "revolutionary." Now's your chance to see it in person! It’s biting and funny, and so worth the money (j/k it’s totally free!) With a diverse cast performing in a shimmering oasis under the stars, this in-person Tartuffe will be a celebratory leap into the spring theater season.
Director: Lucie Tiberghien
Translator: Richard Wilbur
Cast: Lizzy Brooks, Chris Henry Coffey, Andrew Grotelueschen, Jared McNeill, Jennifer Mudge, Marjan Neshat, Postell Pringle, Carter Redwood, and Kate Rigg.
