TARGET Working Group Meeting-Albuquerque FBI and San Juan College
Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (MDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
The goal of the working group is to develop best practices in the identification, assessment, and management of threats to college and university campuses and other systems, providing members an opportunity to share information, identify and network with subject matter experts, and receive training.
The group will be based on the principles and lessons learned from the United States Secret Service Safe School Initiative, the Virginia Tech Report of the Review Panel, and the FBI Campus Attacks report. Much of the empirical data and training material will be derived from the National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime (NCAVC) Program and the Behavioral Threat Assessment Center (BTAC).
Membership in the working group will be limited to the following critical elements: law enforcement, academia, mental health, and technology.
It should be noted that, although TARGET’s goal is the development of best practices, the working group is not intended to be used as a forum to conduct threat assessments. Rather, it is to be used solely as an educational and networking tool.
