MEET OUR SPEAKERS/FACILITATORS
Jim is the Senior Consultant and Project Champion for Target External Partnerships, a program that seeks to develop relationships with colleges and universities for executive education and campus recruiting.
In his 23 years at Target Corporation Jim has held a variety of positions in merchandising, technology services, and human resources. Career highlights include Captain of Target’s Business Analyst training program, Creator of Target’s Merchant Assessment program, Creator of Target’s New Buyer training program, and currently Program Manager of the Target MBA Pilot.
Jim received his M.A. in Business/Marketing Education from the University of Minnesota, and his B.S. in Food/Beverage Merchandising from the University of Wisconsin – Stout.
Brian Buford, Ph.D.
Talent Management and Planning
Brian is the Principal Consultant in the Talent Management and Planning at Target Corporation in Minneapolis, MN. Brian’s primary responsibility at Target is managing the leadership development program for top talent. Since the program’s inception in 2005, Brian has worked with 145 leaders across all functions. He has also managed the team of internal leadership development consultants, created an internal executive coaching function, and designed corporate-wide training on leading organizational change, innovation, teamwork, and talent management. Brian is a requested keynote speaker, facilitator and coach at all levels. Brian received his PhD from the University of Iowa, where his research focused on leadership effectiveness. He is an active member of the Conference Board’s Council on Executive Coaching, works with several nonprofit organizations
