Going through a process of identifying your target market is one of the essential pillars of marketing. Your success depends on meeting your customer's needs and desires - so if you have not have a strong understanding of your primary audience, you will be ineffective and inefficient in attracting your bulls-eye target audience to your business. This is critical for both traditional marketing and digital marketing.

This workshop will include:
  • Why identifying your target audience is so important
  • How to correctly identify your target audience - who is your ideal or typical customer?
  • What parameters should you consider in developing customer profiles?
  • What is market segmentation and why it is important
  • How to validate your target audience assumptions
  • How target market identification directly reflects on how you undertake marketing and communication activities

This workshop is the second of two marketing fundamentals workshops (the first workshop is Developing Value Proposition Statements to Propel Your Business). Both of these workshops are stepping stones to another series currently being developed on Digital Marketing Fundamentals.

Who is running the workshop?

This workshop is being run by Mark Nunan, who is a marketing and digital marketing expert with 20 years of industry experience. Mark has worked with some of Australia's biggest brands and agencies, including banks, government, airlines, health insurers, energy companies, etc. Mark runs his own digital marketing consultancy - 90 Degrees Digital Pty Ltd, and also currently teaches at RMIT University (Advertising Media). Mark's varied career includes working across journalism, PR/media relations, corporate communications, SEO, SEM, Social Media, Website User Experience, Website Project Management, Education, etc. Mark has a Masters in Virtual Communications (RMIT) and BA Journalism (Deakin University), and his LinkedIn profile can be viewed here.
