Latin-Funk-Fusion phenomenon, TapRoots, will be hosting a Winter Ball at Race Street Live with the hopes of promoting not only local Global Roots music in the community, but also local BIPOC artisans, painters, and craftspeople … as well as spreading a little holiday cheer. Matthew King, the creative force behind TapRoots, is hoping to spread a little Holiday Cheer through bringing together a variety of area artists to sell their crafts to a high-energy and spirited soundtrack, featuring sets from TapRoots, Caribbean-Roots-Fiddle masters, The Gaslight Tinkers, and DJ Studebaker Hawk of Peace and Rhythm Records. This night will be the perfect venue to do some Holiday Shopping, listen to great music, and support visual, musical and cultural artists in the community.

TapRoots

TapRoots is a new vision of cultural sonic fusion that touches the live wire of the spirit, body and mind. While the music is at once familiar - borrowing from elements of soul, reggae, salsa, jazz, hip-hop, samba, folkloric rhythms, rock and beyond - it taps into the roots of these traditions while imagining something refreshingly new. Intertwining elemental foundations of spirit, rhythm, planetary reverence, and socio-political transformation, TapRoots braids a vision of human experience united by struggle, celebration, resilience, ceremony and fierce desire for social change. The band travels beyond the borders of traditional popular music, bringing the listener on a journey filled with catchy hooks, pulsing rhythms, complex horn lines, thought provoking lyrics and intricate musical motifs, all fueled by a unique synthesis of sound, spirit and passion into a powerful, deeply rooted, listening experience.

The Gaslight Tinkers

The Gaslight Tinkers' blend of global rhythms creates a joyous world beat sound around a core of traditional New England old time and Celtic fiddle music, merging boundless positive energy with melody and song. Since its formation in 2012 the band has lit up the nation coast to coast as well as the Caribbean, headlining clubs, dances, and major festivals. Playing what The Valley Advocate (Northampton, MA) describes as “Music that consistently fizzes and pops with unexpected textures and turns,” The Gaslight Tinkers’ shows are packed with delightful surprises, elated crowds, exuberant musicianship, and lots of dancing. The sound and energy of, Jopey Fitzpatrick, I-SHEA, Garrett Sawyer and Peter Siegel are universally irresistible.

Dine at GCA! Judd’s Bar & Restaurant is open Wednesday through Saturday from 5pm to 10pm. Food is also available during all concerts starting at 7pm.
