About this event

Egyptian hieroglyphic writing is made of sounds, signs, and symbols working together. Each image may be interpreted on several different planes simultaneously; an image may signify sound, or attribute of the image, or the image itself. Just as in a dream, combing over each image’s meaning unfolds deeper meaning through implication and a chain of association. Dream teacher Robert Moss has said the symbol “brings together what we know with what we don’t yet know.” The same is true of hieroglyphs upon the wall or in the canvas of the mind.

In this workshop, we’ll bring together different ways of approaching and knowing the meaning of Egyptian symbols so that we can use them as hieroglyphic signposts for interpretation. The oracles of ancient Egypt were most commonly seen in dream states, and we will explore any dreams that we may have been given with ancient Egyptian themes to unfold its meaning.

Registrants will receive on-demand access to recording(s) that can be viewed for two weeks following the conclusion of the program.

Rev. Dr. Normandi Ellis is an arch-priestess of the Temple of Isis and has led sacred trips to Egypt since 1992. Awakening Osiris, her original translations of the hieroglyphs found in the Egyptian Book of the Dead, is considered a spiritual classic. Her other books exploring ancient Egyptian metaphysics include Dreams of Isis, Feasts of Light, and Imagining the World into Existence, and her essays have appeared in Parabola, Gnosis, and the Rosicrucian Digest, among other magazines. In 2020, she completed her doctorate of divinity in comparative religions.
