Join TAP-SD in learning about the history of the lion dance, its symbolism, and its current practices from the Lucky Lion Dancers.

About this Event

Are you thrilled by watching lion dance performances at Chinese New Years? Are you impressed by their energy and athleticism? Have you ever thought about trying out this ancient art for yourself? Come join TAP-SD and Lucky Lion Dancers as they prepare for the upcoming Chinese New Years performances. Learn more about the history of lion dance, its symbolism, and its current practices. The workshop will cover drills, footwork, instruments, and manipulation of the lion head. Workshop attendees will put on a brief skit at the end.

Wear closed-toed shoes, preferably sneakers, and gym clothes. Water will be provided on site, but feel free to bring your own as well.
