The slow, gentle, guided movements of Tao Yin, performed while lying on the floor on a yoga mat, are a different way of doing Qigong. They are suitable for most anyone. When we do Tao Yin we focus inside. We connect our minds and bodies through intentional breath work, the energy of light, and the Chinese elements of fire, earth, metal, water and wood. This releases tightness, tension and stress from our organs and increases energy flow in the meridians. Next, we warm, soften and relax the Psoas muscles deep within our lower backs and hips, and all of the spinal muscles. From there we gently strengthen and flex the spine, bringing deep relaxation to the whole body. We end with a brief, guided meditation.
