Event description

Description

Come hear a nonpartisan view on the condition of Florida’s criminal justice system and about criminal justice reform bills that have been filed for the 2018 legislative session. The expert panel consists of a current Florida Senator, a former Commander of Hillsborough County’s Department of Detention Services, an ex-offender that founded a nonprofit that provides services to formerly incarcerated individuals, and other criminal justice experts. The panel discussion will consist of questions from a moderator and the audience. Join us for this discussion on mass incarceration and how Florida can reduce its incarcerated population, reduce racial inequalities, save taxpayers money, and make communities safer – all at the same time.

FEATURED PANELISTS:
Sen. Darryl Rouson, D-St. Petersburg
Deborrah Brodsky, Director of the Project on Accountable Justice
David Parrish, Retired Colonel of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office
Bethany McNeil, Founder of XO Factor, a nonprofit that provides
ex-offender services
Raymer Maguire, ACLU of Florida’s Criminal Justice Manager

MODERATED BY:
Scott McCoy, Senior Policy Counsel at the Southern Poverty Law Center

TOY DRIVE: To support children with parents who are incarcerated, XO Factor will be collecting toys during the event. Please feel free to join in the effort.
