Event description
Our May 2021 Program will be "Samuel Elbert and Georgia's Revolution in Florida," a talk by Dr. Clay Ouzts.

About this event

Our May 13 meeting will be presented by Clay Ouzts, Professor of History and Environmental Studies at the University of North Georgia. He resides in Vesta, Georgia, a community southeast of Athens near the Broad River. He earned his PhD at FSU under Dr. William Warren Rogers, former president of the THS. He is the author of Showdown in the South: Jimmy Carter and the 1976 Florida Democratic Primary (Sentry Press, 2018) and is currently working on a biography of Samuel Elbert, one of Georgia’s Revolutionary War leaders and early governors. He will be speaking on the Revolutionary War on the Georgia/Florida border, since Elbert led several invasions of Florida during the revolution.

The meeting will be held virtually via Zoom. The event is free and all are welcome but registration is required.
