Talking Privacy Tech: a round-table with leading technologists
Event Information
Description
You've heard about the dystopian mass surveillance monster that is the 21st century Internet. You've heard how invasive social media platforms are and how anti-consumer the business models of the large Internet companies continue to be. You want to do something about it!
Come join our conversation with leading technologists and thinkers, including the co-founder of the Tor project, and representatives from local infosec consultancy Copperhead as well as the CitizenLab at UofT. Explore your options for anonymous browsing, secure mobile tech, and the challenges of secure messaging. Our panelists will engage a range of issues at the intersection of technology, policy, and politics in what is certain to be a thought-provoking and empowering discussion.
This talk is part of Toronto Public Library's Digital Privacy Expo - A full day series of discussions and hands-on demonstrations, featuring industry experts and TPL staff.
