Parent Workshop: Discussing Race with our Children
March 1st, 8:30am-12:30pm
CURE is partnering with The Center for Racial Justice in Education for this four hour workshop during which parents will strengthen their understanding of how to effectively address issues of race and racism with their children. Engaging in both interactive activites and dialogue, we will learn how children see race, and gain skills for approaching age-appropriate conversations using a racial equity lens. We will also develop strategies to promote positive racial identity development in children, including addressing misconceptions about race and reversing unconscious racial bias.
Parents, guardians and caregivers welcome. $100 per person.
Scholarships available - please write to learnwithcure@gmail.com
Snow date: March 8th
The event is presented by C.U.R.E, The Coalition for Understanding Racism Through Education. The coalition is dedicated to bringing a deeper understanding of institutional racism and how it affects our American politics, ideologies, treatment of each other and daily existence as a caste system society. We are hyper focused on serving the Larchmont and Mamaroneck community however, we wholeheartedly welcome anyone who is willing to change their lens around creating equitable institutions for all.
