Event description

Description

Does a certain smell or taste ever remind you of your dearly departed? This month's featured title, The Kitchen Daughter by Jael McHenry, tells the story of painfully shy Ginny Selvaggio who loses both parents unexpectedly. In an attempt to bring back their memory and reconnect with them, Ginny retreats to her kitchen where she cooks her dearly departeds' recipes. Imagine Ginny's surprise when the rich, peppery scent of her Nonna's soup draws an unexpected guest -- Nonna herself -- who has been gone for 20 years -- into her kitchen with this cryptic warning: "Do not let her..." before vanishing into thin air -- like steam evaporating from a cooling dish! Learn the meaning of Nonna's warning, get to know the back story of Ginny's kitchen apparitions, and discover why cooking and her kitchen are Ginny's safe havens from 6-7pm during our FREE book discussion facilitated by Mary Ann Ware, Library Associate for Outreach, Lincoln Township Library. Check out your copy of this delectable family drama containing a pinch of magic, dash of heartache, and generous portion of lyrical beauty from LTPL's Circulation Desk. Questions? Contact Mary Ann at 269.429.9575 x141 or maware@lincolnlib.org. From 7:15-8:15pm, we invite you to enjoy us for a mini cooking class, facilitated by Lisa Micunek, complementing our title. Register and prepay at: http://martinsmarkets.eventbrite.com for this magical menu containing these ghostly goodies: Mulled Cider, Brandied Apricot Brie served with Buttery Crackers, Ginny's Ribollita, Chicken Marsala Meatballs over Orzo, and the late Evangeline Matamoros' Midnight Cry Brownies served with homemade Pumpkin Ice Cream & Spiced Caramel Sauce.
