What are the next steps needed to move forward with our agency such as, contractual representation procedures, proper industry marketing materials, suggested training classes and cost if needed at all will be discussed to ensure that you're agency ready to compete against other talent that are in this market. #2. Non contractual options that will allow you to be considered for paid, non-speaking, print and extra work while pursuing your career without having to sign an agency contract.
"I have heard if there's a cost then it's a scam. Is this a true statement?"
"This statement makes me cringe every time I hear anyone say it without giving a full explanation of what they're referring to, and unfortunately most people can't. So I will try to explain so that you are properly educated on what is and isn't acceptable. If an agency offers training, photography or any other related fee based service it's only offered to allow the talent to become more competitive and marketable. Yes there are fees charged for those services offered. Nothing is Free and it is quite common for many agencies in this market to offer additional fee-based services for potential new talent to become agency ready. Many people are misinformed and believe that if an Agency charges fees then it's a SCAM. The Truth is that everyone who wants to act professionally needs professional training and professional photography to compete against the other professionals in this industry. This is what identifies you as a professional and what the industry expects from you. Now, there are agencies that REQUIRE that you use ONLY their services or REQUIRE you to pay them to join or to receive an Agency contract; in this case I say YES these are unethical entities and should raise a red flag. The difference with Talent Link is if you already have adequate training and professional photography you may not be required to shoot with us or take our training. However we won't know that until we evaluate your marketing materials and your On Camera Audition skills during the Agency Open Call. Whether or not you meet industry requirements will be discussed when you come to the agency Open Call, at this time you can make an educated decision of what is needed & expected from YOU to move forward and be allowed to compete against other professional actors & models in this market.
