Taking Action to End Sexual Violence in Conflict

This month, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom will be hosting the largest gathering ever convened to examine the issues of sexual violence in conflict. The summit, co-chaired by Foreign Secretary William Hague, and Angelina Jolie, Special Envoy for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, will bring together 145 governments and international organizations to focus on the issue of sexual violence as a weapon of war. British Embassies and organizations around the globe are hosting public events, performances, and discussions in conjunction with the summit. The British Embassy in DC, in collaboration with Vital Voices will be hosting a panel discussion on “Taking Action to End Sexual Violence in Conflict”. The panel will feature Suaad Allami, Founder and Director, Sadr City Women’s Center and Legal Clinic, and 2014 Vital Voices Global Leadership Award Honoree; Gigi Scoles, Director of Human Rights at Vital Voices; and Emma Wade, Foreign and Security Policy Counsellor, British Embassy Washington.
