Event description

Description

"Taking a Chance on God": a one-hour film about pioneering gay priest, author, and activist John McNeill, followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Brendan Fay.

A powerful story of faith, love and perseverance in the face of oppression and rejection. Taking a Chance on God follows John McNeill from his Buffalo, New York, boyhood through his experiences as a POW in Nazi Germany, his Le Moyne College years as a Jesuit professor, a Vietnam peace promoter, and an internationally known gay rights author and advocate.

Brendan Fay is an openly gay Irish immigrant and the founder of LGBTQ Irish advocacy group Lavender and Green Alliance and of the Queens-based St. Pat’s for All parade, celebrating Irish heritage and culture regardless of race, gender, creed or sexual orientation.

Free refreshments will be served at the end of the event.
