Take the A Train Writing Marathon (NYCWP)
Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM (EDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
The New York City Writing Project invites you to join us for our Spring Writing Marathon, which will take participants through the experience of a 31-mile subway ride as they Take the A Train, end to end. We will board the train at the Inwood/207 Street station and spend the subway ride observing, writing, talking and sharing until we reach our destination—the other end of the line at Rockaway Beach 116. Use the train, its history, and the many sights you see along the way as inspiration for poetry and prose, and gather with colleagues to share your writing and learn about publication opportunities in the NYCWP community.
Our Writing Marathons derive from those developed by Richard Louth of the Southeastern Louisiana Writing Project as adapted from Natalie Goldberg’s ideas in Writing Down the Bones.
We hope participants will continue their time together after we arrive in Rockaway Beach by gathering for lunch; more information about options in the area will be made available on the day of the Writing Marathon.
