Shiuwen Tai, owner of Floating Leaves Tea, and Jake Knapp, owner of Cloud 9 Photography, are making a film about tea in Taiwan. They will launch the project in 2017, as they travel to Taiwan to begin filming. The primary focus of this very special documentary will be on the tea farmers, roasters, and professionals, and will include a section featuring the world renowned Wistaria Tea House. The film is going to create a valuable record of tea in Taiwan, and will create a way for people in other parts of the world to see and learn more about this vibrant tea origin.
“We have met some amazing tea people from our travels and we would love to tell you their stories. In a way, I feel this tea documentary is for those amazing tea farmers and tea professionals. With our love and appreciation for them, we feel we have to capture their life, their stories, and their tea skills for you and show you their incredible dedication to tea.” - Shiuwen Tai
In order to fund travel, filming, editing, music, etc. Shiuwen and Jake have launched a fundraising campaign to support the work. There is a GoFundMe online fundraiser underway already, but we wanted to give local tea people an opportunity to hear Shiuwen and Jake talk about their project, share some of the enthusiasm they bring to this inspiring project in person, and support their work. Join other local tea people (or anyone else interested in this project) for an evening of socializing, snacks, tea, and wine. Guests will be asked to make a gift of financial support to the Taiwan film project. This gift can be as small or large an amount as each person feels is appropriate. Gifts can be made by cash, check, or credit card, by name or anonymously. Come out and celebrate the stories of Taiwanese tea!
Please RSVP by October 20th, so we have an idea of how many guests we will have.
