Join CNU Illinois and AIA Chicago at a Tactical Urbanism Slam!
Parklets. Street art. Participatory performances.
These interventions, and others, have become known as tactical urbanism, low cost and easily deployable placemaking solutions that reinvigorate places and spaces. Come experience tactical urbanism for yourself with a Pecha Kucha slam, co-hosted by CNU Illinois and the American Institute of Architects Chicago Chapter.
At the “Tactical Urbanism Slam”, you’ll hear 8 presenters give highly visual, before-and-after presentations about their tactical urbanism projects around town. The event is "Powered by Pecha Kucha", meaning that it is a one-off event that is separate from regular city-based PechaKucha Nights. These events include fast paced, highly-visual presentations that use the PechaKucha 20 images x 20 seconds format. At the Tactical Urbanism Slam you will hear presentations from Jim Lasko of Redmoon Theater, Katherine Darnstadt of Latent Design, Taylor McKinley of Place Lab at the University of Chicago, and many others!
Please join us for a cross-disciplinary conversation that will help to bolster the tactical urbanism community in Chicago. Refreshments will be provided.
CNU Illinois and AIA Chicago members as well as non-members are invited to attend.
