About this event
Trauma in the form of violence and sexual abuse is extremely common resulting in lifelong difficulties attaching to others, diverse symptoms and difficulties processing emotions.
Intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy is specifically developed to treat the long-term effects of trauma. It is built to work with people who are very detached and resistant, those who have a lot of repression with symptoms in the body and those who have fragile character structure with dissociation and functional neurological symptoms. It has been researched and shown to be effective and cost-effective with post-traumatic stress disorder as well as depression, personality disorders, other anxiety disorders and somatoform disorders.
In this one-day course we will review the metapsychology of the unconscious as it relates to trauma. We will then review a series of cases and key processes involved with this treatment method. The course will include a great deal of video of actual case material to illustrate these processes.
Because we will show video case material online, there is a restriction in who may attend this course. It is open to people who have completed an EDT/ISTDP core training, or are currently in an EDT training prgram or society, are trainers and their associates.
